Are you trying to find an alternative to Wix? Great, you’re in the right spot because whether it’s because Wix is actually charging you more money than you thought it would or because you don’t like having that Wix logo displayed on your supposedly free plan, I’ve got you covered.
In this video, I’m going to break down some other website builders for small businesses that’ll be helpful for you to find a better fit. I’ll explain a little bit of the pros and cons of each one and who it’s the right fit for so that you have a good sense of which one is going to make sense for your business.
So without further ado, let’s jump right into it.
All right, Wix isn’t the only website builder out there for small businesses. Here are five strong alternatives to consider, each with their own pros and cons.
So first up we have Mighty Sites. It’s a simple professional website builder. It’s going to deploy a template for you. It’s got an easy front-end editor and it’s perfect for local businesses that don’t need all the bells and whistles but just want something simple and straightforward that’s easy to manage and is a good representation of their business. Starts at just $9 a month. The link’s below for a free trial.
On the con side, it’s less flexible and has less complex functionality. That’s why you’re saving the money. But if you don’t need something really robust and really design heavy and you’re not trying to be a web developer, this is probably a good platform for you—especially if you’re a local service business where you don’t have those advanced needs like e-commerce and stuff for your platform.
That’s Mighty Sites.
Up next we have Squarespace. It’s known for its beautiful design-focused templates and ease of use. It offers strong mobile optimization and a lot of built-in marketing tools.
Now on the con side, there is going to be a learning curve for this and it is going to get more expensive for features like e-commerce and more advanced features compared to some other platforms.
Up next we have Shopify. This is the go-to platform for e-commerce websites. So if you’re leaving Wix because you want more e-commerce, this one has excellent features for managing products, inventory, secure payments, and it integrates well with other types of marketing channels to sell your products.
Now it’s primarily designed for online stores, so it might be less suitable for a purely informational website. And while it has a website builder, it might be less intuitive for beginners compared to like a drag-and-drop builder like you’re probably used to.
All right, next we have Webflow. It offers pretty exceptional design flexibility with a really powerful way to build a site and it’s ideal for you if you are leaving Wix because you want a more custom web design but you still don’t want to do any coding.
Now it does require more design knowledge and does have a steeper learning curve than other drag-and-drop builders. There’s a very limited free plan and pricing can be higher, but if you’re after a more custom look, Webflow can help get you there.
And last but not least, the popular platform WordPress. What started as a popular blogging platform with a user-friendly interface and lots of plug-in options, it does offer a free plan but you do have to host the site somewhere, right? You got to. It’s free but you got to host all the software.
And it has less design flexibility compared to Wix or Squarespace if you’re not a developer. You’re going to have to just plug it in and go. Customizations can be pretty complex for non-savvy users, especially when you’re dealing with plugins. And for full control and customization, you’re likely going to need some help from a developer.
So those are some alternatives to Wix. If you’re looking for something new, hit that like and subscribe for all the great tips on how to grow your business—especially on building websites for a local business.
