Now, we're going to talk about this even if you have never done any marketing before, even if your moving business is brand new, even if you don't have a big budget to spend on driving more leads. This video is for you. We're going to talk about some simple techniques that you can start using today to drive more customers for your moving business. But first, why does this matter in the first place? Well, building up marketing and having a good presence for your moving company is really critical for closing more leads. So when we talk about referrals in the moving business, right? That's a big way that this works. Think about from the customer's perspective. When they are looking for a moving service, they're going to check out your website, your social media. They're going to look at and look for marketing assets to try and decide whether you're who they want to hire or not, right? So it's not just about the referral. We don't just get referred anymore and say, "Okay, Joe referred me to Bob's Moving. I'm just going to hire Bob's Moving." No, they say, "Joe referred me to Bob's Moving. Let me look them up online. Let me ask some more people. Do a little bit more research. If they look good, then I will hire them. I appreciate the referral from Joe." That's how the world works. If you're missing that marketing pillar, then you're not capturing as many referrals as you could be, right? So let's talk about this together today.

First things first, understand your audience. Who's moving? Whether it's families, businesses, college students... Knowing your audience is key, right? Let's say you're in a college town. Offering smaller, quicker moves might be just the ticket. If you're in a more, uh, residential area or suburban area, you've got to think about bigger trucks, bigger moves, more time. So, and then you're going to coordinate your packages and your timing and your scheduling all around that. So you first have to understand your audience, so that you can get the right product-market fit to make sure the rest of these techniques for getting customers matters in the first place.
Step two, online presence. I just talked about that. That's your digital front door. Your website and your social media doesn't have to be overly complicated. Use a Mighty site. The link's down below. It's only $9 a month for a simple, professional small business website. There, you can put your reviews, a gallery, um, customer information, what services you offer, pictures of your services in action. And then social media, just talk on social media about moving tips and pictures of your business to create familiarity. That's going to make it inviting and informative. That's how you're going to close those leads. And then, how about maybe a friendly video tour of your services or some moving tips? It's not just about being found, it's making a great impression for that customer who just heard of your business or got referred to it.
Next, customer reviews. These are the trust builders. So nothing gets people moving like trust, and customer reviews are golden. So on your Google Business Profile, encourage happy customers to leave reviews. Maybe even offer, uh, some sort of discount or incentive to leave a review, right? You can't incentivize positive reviews only, but you can encourage people to leave reviews with incentives and thank them or show appreciation for leaving reviews. So the more positive reviews you get on your Google Business Profile, the more likely Google is to say, "This is a great moving business. Let's bump them up when people are searching for moving services." That's local SEO. And the more reviews you get, the more people are going to look at that and say, "Hey, I want a great experience when it comes to moving. This moving company has tons of great reviews. That's who I want to hire," right? So reviews can be your best friend if you manage them properly.
Step four, local partnerships. Partner up locally. Connect with real estate agents, apartment complexes, local businesses. When they need a mover, who do you think they'll call? That's right, you. They're going to refer business to you. Those are the people who are in the know about who's moving, where they're going, when it's happening. Property managers, real estate agents... Build relationships with them. Spend some time, maybe one day a week, take somebody out for coffee or lunch. Get to know them, talk about your Moving Service, build a relationship. They want to look like the expert if they're a real estate agent and be able
to refer you to a great moving company. And then you can work vice versa, right? If you hear somebody's moving or they're thinking about moving, you can refer them to the real estate agent partner or apartment complex partner, whoever it is, whatever is appropriate. It works both ways and helps you both build your business and get more leads. Look at what we're doing here. We're opening up more and more lead channels for your moving business.
Next, referral program. Don't forget the power of referrals. Offer incentives for customers who refer your service. It's a win-win. They move and they get something back, right? Offer them a referral off their next move, or if they refer someone to you, offer them an incentive off their next move. It's a huge win for you. It's a huge win for them. That's your customer acquisition cost. It just means what you give up in order to get a new customer. It's a sunk cost, right? I'd gladly give up a certain amount of that Revenue to know I'm securing more customers, right? 'Cause that helps me grow my business. Think about how you can implement a referral business in the moving space.
And step six, keep engaging and following up. Last but not least, keep the conversation going. Follow up after moves with a thank you message. Send out helpful moving tips with an email newsletter. Stay in your customer's mind so they think of you when they're moving. You can even just send a holiday card, right? To a list of people you have. It's super simple and easy to do on Shutterfly. That's going to keep you top of mind. 'Cause remember, people move on average every few years, right? Um, especially at different stages of life, that can happen. They're going to be a repeat customer if you stay top of mind. Then all of a sudden, a few years go by, and you've got this base of repeat customers coming back to you too, because you've stayed top of mind with an email newsletter and a holiday card, right? It's that simple and easy.
